Earlier this month, Harvest Tours had the privilege of being awarded Gold at the Tourism Awards of WA. Today, we are going to take a step back and share with you our journey from a small family-operated business to an award-winning tour operator.
How It All Started
In 2011, the Hayman family embarked on a mission to deliver an authentic Margaret River experience to local and overseas tourists. This venture was initiated by Nicky and Jamie who recognized the need for a more relaxed, premium, and gourmet-focused food & wine tour that showcased the finest local produce of Margaret Rivers.
The aim was to offer tours that weren’t just about seeing the area, but also about experiencing it as the locals do, connecting guests with exceptional food artisans, skilled winemakers, and the best local produce amidst stunning landscapes. This is how Harvest Tours was born and today we are still chasing the same goals and finding new ways to improve the Margaret River experience.
Our Growth
Since its inception, Harvest Tours has grown into a family-centric team dedicated to providing deeply personal and genuine experiences of both Margaret River and the broader Southern region of Western Australia.
Our key team members include Clarice, a local since 2009 with significant hospitality experience, Clinton, a resident of Vasse who doubles as a tour guide, Stephen and Trudy bring administrative and management skills to enhance the business.
Together we have cultivated extensive knowledge of food and wine destinations and attractions, ensuring memorable and entertaining experiences for our guests.
Gold Winner at the WA Tourism Awards
Winning gold at the WA Tourism Awards has always been a major goal for Harvest Tours. The prize means recognition for the excellence and hard work our team puts in every tour. Since 2012, Harvest Tours has been a finalist 10+ times, with one SIlver won in our first year. But as it turns out, 2023 was going to be our best year!
The Tourism Council of WA awarded us Gold in the category of Excellence in Food Tourism, crowning 10+ years of hard work and dedication to the food and wine industry in Margaret River. Winning Gold has given us the drive and motivation to take Harvest Tours to the next level and find new opportunities to showcase the Margaret River region to the rest of the world.

To stay at the top you must innovate and always bring something new to the table. Our next steps will focus on the following areas:
Extend our fleet: Due to the success of our Margaret River wine tours, there is a great opportunity to increase the number of tours we offer each month. We believe as many people as possible should be able to enjoy the beautiful South West without breaking budget.
Offer more destinations: Harvest Tours already takes you to some of the best wineries and restaurants in Margaret River, but we also want you to see everything else the region has to offer. Many of our tours already include visit to top destinations like ancient caves, treetop walks, and chocolate factories, but we want to extend our offering to include even more local
attractions.
Busselton flights: With national flights landing right into Busselton, we aim to provide tour services departing directly from the airport. Picture getting chauffeured from the airport to the closest wineries and restaurants, or even your hotel.
